Traditionally, communion sets were made of expensive silver and were not mass produced. Most of the time, a normal set will include a chalice or cup, a paten, a cruet, and a pyx. All of these are crucial to the communion itself.
For instance, a pyx is a small container that is used to store the bread or the Host when Communion's happen. The cruet is the small bottle that is used to hold the wine, which represents the blood of Christ.
Then the paten is a small plat, usually of silver, that is used to hold the Eucharistic bread. Finally, the chalice is the cup used or intended for holding a drink. In a Communion, this holds the wine.
All these are important to the celebration of the Holy Communion. This is a primary part in the lives of Christians and believers.
With the help of the Communion sets, we are able to live under the loving grace of the Lord once again.
